Our welcoming and friendly bowls club is located on the edge of the Cotswolds in the picturesque market town of Witney and is open to all. We offer a full programme of outdoor lawn and indoor short mat bowling and social activities from our outstanding new pavilion with its excellent catering and leisure facilities. We are always seeking new members to boost our current membership of around 110 bowling members and 20 plus social members and offer coaching and competitions for men and women of all age groups and abilities. Bowls is a fantastic sport and you would be more than welcome to come and try, or, even if you are already a bowler and will be moving to the area and searching for a club, we would be pleased to hear from you and provide you with further information.
We welcome visitors from other clubs and invite you to include us in your touring schedule. Witney has a fascinating history and for hundreds of years was famous for making blankets. This came to an end in 2002 when the last mill closed, but there are many buildings remaining that are connected with the industry. The area has many good hotels in which to relax and visit surrounding Cotswold villages and bowls clubs, all offering visitors a wealth of beautiful places to linger and relax after a hard or good day on the green!
“Well, forward, forward! Thus the bowl should run, and not unluckily against the bias.”
Other local attractions just a few miles from Witney include Blenheim Palace, picturesque Burford and Bladon church yard, the final resting place of the great Sir Winston Churchill and members of the family of the late, Princess of Wales, Lady Dianna Spencer.
